What is anxiety?

We all anxiety sometimes. Anxiety is a very normal reaction to a stressor. However, you may be experiencing an Anxiety Disorder if you start experiencing it for a long amount of time. It might start to feel like it’s getting in the way of your day-to-day life activities.

There are multiple types of anxiety disorders. You may have heard of Generalized Anxiety Disorder. It’s the most common anxiety diagnosis. A diagnosis of GAD is generally characterized by excessive worry over everyday life, even when there is no “reason”.

Other types of anxiety disorders include: panic disorder, phobias, and social anxiety.

How can we treat anxiety?

Anxiety is best treated with talk therapy— with or without psychotropic medications. Improving certain lifestyle factors may help too.
